How to Flash MIUI 8 Fastboot ROM on Redmi Pro via SP Flash Tool

install miui 8 redmi pro flagship

Previously, we have posted a tutorial guiding any Xiaomi device users to flash MIUI 8 Fastboot ROM on their phones. However, the tutorial makes use of the official Mi Flash Tool that requires its users to firstly have their phone bootloader unlocked officially. Fortunately, there is another way how we can flash MIUI 8 Fastboot ROM on MediaTek-powered devices including Redmi Pro. In this tutorial you will see a working method on how to install MIUI 8 Fastboot ROM on Redmi Pro as the first solution to fix bricked or bootloop device. We’ll use SP Flash Tool, a Windows-based utility to flash Android ROM for MediaTek devices.

As a refresh, Redmi Pro boasts many cool hardware specifications and features under the hood including Mediatek MT6797T Helio X25 (or Mediatek MT6797 Helio X20 in Redmi Pro Standard), Mali-T880 MP4 GPU, Dual camera having 13 MP + 5MP lenses, 5MP front-facing camera, Fingerprint, accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, and so on. Also read: Full Redmi Pro specifications.

This step-by-step article should work on both X25 or X20 edition. Just make sure you proceed carefully because we will hold NO responsibility of any damage or broken device as a result of following this guide. Flash it responsibly.

  1. Make sure you have charged your phone so it has at least 55% battery power;
  2. Enable USB Debugging on your phone. This option is available inside Developer Options in phone’s Settings. Just go to Settings >> Additional Settings >> Developer Options >> enable USB Debugging. Read: How to enable MIUI Developer Option.
  3. Do not forget to create backup of any important files and data from your phone.
  4. Extract MIUI 8 Fastboot ROM .tgz file using either WinRAR or 7zip utility.
  5. disable Windows Drivers Signature Enforcement on your computer. How to do it? Simply follow these sequence. You can do that by pressing Windows button + i on keyboard to reveal the Settings page. From there you can choose Update & Security >> Recovery >> Advanced startup >> Restart now. Wait a moment for your computer to restart. Next, go to Troubleshoot >> Advanced options >> Startup settings >> Restart. Once your computer restarts, now choose Disable driver signature enforcement which is option number 7. When should I flash MIUI Fastboot ROM? When you want to do a clean install (or re-install) or if your phone is bricked or in bootloop state. Otherwise, you may need to simply flash MIUI Recovery ROM through Updater app.
