How to Flash MIUI Global Stable ROM on Mi 5 Running China Stable ROM

Mi 5 Tutorial Fastboot ROM Flashing

Xiaomi Mi 5, the flagship phone powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, has now been available globally which means there are also two MIUI builds available: the Global Stable ROM and the China Stable ROM. However, some users who got their Mi 5 phones directly from China most likely have their phones running MIUI China Stable build. Some users who also got their phone from resellers in their countries few months ago – before the Global version was released – may also have their phone running the China stable build. Even worst, some resellers may also have changed official China Stable ROM with tampered one.

Now go ahead check your phone. Is it running China Stable ROM or Global Stable ROM but tampered one?

Got it? Now you can simply read and follow this tutorial to flash official MIUI ROM from fake tampered ROM on Mi 5. Otherwise, if your phone is running stock China Stable ROM, simply read and follow all the steps below to install MIUI Global Stable ROM from China Stable ROM on Mi 5 with either locked or unlocked bootloader through Fastboot. You should use this method only if updating to Global Stable using Recovery ROM was unsuccessful. How long should this normally take? I’m currently doing this and I’m sitting at 2500s. I clicked “Clean All” and I’m assuming it’s taking so long because I had the phone full of music (something like 20GB?)
