Even the Redmi Note 3 has been released, the Redmi Note 2 is still a cool device and being a favorite for many users. Obviously it becomes cheaper than it was firstly released. Hence, many of its users are doubtlessly make many tweaks and mods towards this device. Rooting and installing custom ROM are just two tasks to unleash the beast’s awesomeness. However, it usually starts with one simple thing: installing custom Recovery.
Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP) is the most popular one for many MIUI users. It’s easy-to-use interface and intuitive designs could be the most influenced factors why it becomes popular.
Previously, we have posted about how to flash TWRP before, this time you’ll see some basic steps on how to install TWRP v3.0.0-4 on Redmi Note 2 (also works on Redmi Note 2 Prime).

How to install
Step 1 – If you haven’t done so, please firstly download and install Adb drivers on your computer. This is needed to make sure your computer can recognize your device properly.
Step 2 – Download TWRP Auto Installer package for Redmi Note 2 onto your PC.
Step 3 – Grab your phone and Enable USB debugging. Follow these direction: simply go to Settings>> About Phone >> tap 7 – 10 time on the MIUI version. That will activate Developer Options menu. Now go to Settings >> Developer Options then enable USB Debugging.
Step 4 – Connect your phone to your PC using its USB cable.
Step 5 – Extract TWRP3.0_HMNOTE2_Auto installer.zip file using either Winzip or Winrar.
Step 6 – Now open up Windows Explorer and go to the location of where you’ve extracted the zip file. Find Install-TWRP.bat file, double-click on it to run the auto-installer script.
Step 7 – Press any key on your keyboard and your phone will ask for confirmation to grant the permission.
Step 8 – Make sure you give the permission on your phone. And once you did that, the flashing process shall begin.
Step 9 – Please never unplug / disconnect your phone from computer. Just wait till the process is fully complete.
Step 10 – Sit tight, wait and Enjoy.
Voila! Congratulation as now you have TWRP installed on your phone. You can download SuperSU flashable package – and flash it via TWRP – to gain root on it or install any Custom ROM to taste difference Android experience.
Upgrading from older TWRP version
Download the TWRP v3.0.0-4 flashable package, copy it to your phone, reboot into TWRP and flash the package. That’s it.
