How to Install TWRP on Mi 4i Using Flashify App
Powered with Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 chipset along with Quad-core 1.7 GHz Cortex-A53 & quad-core 1.0 GHz Cortex-A53 CPUs, Xiaomi Mi 4i becomes one of Xiaomi’s best selling phones. Many users preferred this phone rather than Mi 4. It’s colorful and its price is just right for the budget. Furthermore, this phone is also rootable easily. Users can then doing many experimental tasks upon rooting like flashing custom ROM, installing Xposed Framework, and so on. However, most of arduous tasks can only be done through custom recover. Talking about custom recovery, the one from Team Win Project, TWRP, is the best and the most well-known one for many MIUI fans.

In this article, you’ll see another method to easily install TWRP Recovery on Mi 4i without computer and without Fastboot mode. This method makes use of Flashify app to flash TWRP flashable image file on your device. Flashify is a free but root-only app available in Play Store but many people do not realize its full abilities. Let’s get started..
Prerequisites
- Download KingRoot app on your Mi 4i and install it.
- Root your Mi4i using Kingroot yo have installed.
- Download TWRP and Stock Recovery package into your phone.
- Download and install Flashify app on your phone from Play Store.
- Do not forget to create backup of all important files in your phone.
Steps to Flash TWRP
Step 1 – Extract TWRP and Recovery package on your phone. ES File Explorer can help you easily extract .zip file. You will then get two files : TWRP.img and Stock.img.
Step 2 – Now launch Flashify app up.
Step 3 – You’ll see three options: Boot Image, Recovery Image, and Zip file. Tap on “Recovery Image” option.
Step 4 – A “Flash Recovery” dialog box will appear. Tap on the “Choose a file” option.
Step 5 – You can use any File Explorer app to browse and locate the extracted twrp.img file.
Step 6 – Tap on twrp.img file.
Step 7 – Once you selected the .img file, the Flashify app will ask you a confirmation to flash the recovery. Choose “Yup“.
Step 8 – The flashing process shall start immediately. Choose “Reboot Now” once it done.
Congratulation! You have successfully installed TWRP Recovery on your phone. The next time you reboot into recovery (Volume Up + Power buttons) you’ll see TWRP interface instead of stock Recovery.
Can I flash Mi Recovery back?
Yes of course. You can install MIUI stock recovery back replacing TWRP by following the same steps above but instead of choosing twrp.img file, this time you have to choose stock.img file. That’s all.
What’s next?
So you have TWRP installed. Now you can create full Nandroid backup with it or flash custom Android ROM on your phone. Moreover, you can also uninstall Kingroot and flash SuperSU through TWRP to gain native root. Enjoy..
