How to Painlessly Root Redmi 3s and Install GApps

Many MIUI users are still afraid of manually rooting their devices due to the risk of getting bricked or bootloop. That’s true only if it was done incorrectly. Therefore, many users still prefer to use one-click root app like KingRoot or Framaroot and then replace if afterwards using SuperSU. However, the success rate of using such app is still low even the risk of getting bricked is minimal. On the other hand, almost all recent Xiaomi devices are shipped with locked bootloader preventing its users to flash SuperSU on it since it will modify the system. The same situation may also happen to most of Redmi 3S owners. The phone has locked bootloader and running latest MIUI version making it almost impossible to root using current version of KingRoot. Hence, rooting should be done manually.

Have you read all of them but still have no bravery to try it? Well, fear no more! You can now install TWRP, flash SuperSU to root, and install Play Store on Redmi 3S semi-automatically using Flasher Toolkit. Here’s how to use it.


You will need following things before being able to make use of this Flasher Tool :


First, enable USB Debugging on your phone.This option is available within Developer Options in Settings area. Read : How to enable Developer Options.

Second, disable Windows Drivers Signature Enforcement on your computer. How to do it? Simply follow these sequence. You can do that by pressing Windows button + i on keyboard to reveal the Settings page. From there you can choose Update & Security >> Recovery >> Advanced startup >> Restart now. Wait a moment for your computer to restart. Next, go to Troubleshoot >> Advanced options >> Startup settings >> Restart. Once your computer restarts, now choose Disable driver signature enforcement which is option number 7. Third, do not forget to firstly create backup of all your important files and data.

Forth, make sure your phone has at least 50% battery juice remaining.

Fifth, install Minimal Fastboot and ADB File installer you have downloaded.


Step 1 – Download Flasher Toolkit Land package and extract it in your computer using either Winzip or Winrar.

Step 2 – Grab your phone and its USB cable. Make sure it is turned on (in ON state).

Step 3 – Connect it to your computer using its cable.

Step 4 – Transfer both SuperSU .zip and OpenGapps .zip files into your phone.

Step 5 – Open up Windows Explorer and go to the location of where you have extracted Flasher Toolkit.

Step 6 – Right-click on “Flasher Toolkit Land v1.bat” file and choose Run as administrator.

Step 7 – From here you can simply choose option #1 – installing TWRP v3.0.0:

Step 8 – The Flasher tool will then check for all required conditions and once all are met, the tool will continue the process.

Step 10 – Just wait till the flashing process completed which will then automatically reboot into TWRP.

Step 11 – Like usual, choose “Install” and then locate both SuperSU and OpenGapps .zip files.

Step 12 – Sit tight and wait for TWRP to finish its duty flashing SuperSU and install Google Apps on your phone.

Step 13 – Finally, choose “Reboot System” to reboot your phone into normal mode.

You’ll then see Play Store now installed. Tap on it and login using your Google Account. You can verify the root obtained using Root Checker app downloaded from Play Store you’ve just installed. Enjoy.
