How to Root Redmi 1S on MIUI 8 Natively

native root hongmi 1s

This is most probably the easiest method to obtain native root access on Redmi 1s / Hongmi 1s running MIUI 8 Global Stable ROM without flashing TWRP custom recovery and without SuperSU. All you need to do is to install compiled native root package through built-in MIUI Updater app. However, this method was conducted successfully on rooting Hongmi 1S running MIUI v8.0.1.0.KHCMIDG Global Stable. Anyway, have you upgraded your phone to run MIUI 8? Xiaomi has rolled out the major update of its mobile OS for all supported devices including your old school but lovely Redmi 1S.

About rooting – Rooting your phone may not void your warranty if done properly. However, we hold no responsibility of any damage or bricked device as a result of following this guide. Proceed carefully and responsibly. Native root access requires no SuperSU to be installed and you can grant any root-only app easily when asked or via Permissions manager.

Steps to root

Step 1 – Do not forget to firstly create backup of all your important data and files.

Step 2Download flashable Native Root Exploit package into your phone storage.

Step 3 – Launch file Explorer app and rename that newly downloaded package into ““.

Step 4 – Now open up Updater app.

Step 6 – Select “Choose Update Package” option.

Step 7 – Locate the “” file you have downloaded earlier and choose it.

Step 8 – Wait till the flashing process completed. Your phone may then reboot.

Step 9 – Now verify that your phone has been rooted by installing “Root Checker” app from Play Store.

Step 10 – Run the app (or any root-only app) and then the system will ask for root access.

Step 11 – Now open app Security >> Permissions >> Root Access >> and Enable or grant root access on any apps you want.

Step 12 – Reopen the app you have granted it root access. You may need to tap on Next >> Next >> Allow and accept to proceed with the app.

How to unroot

Simply download the Unroot package into your phone and follow similar steps above to install it through Updater app. That’s it and enjoy!
