How to Install Google Play Store on Mi 3 / Mi 4 Running MIUI Android 6.0

Mi 3 and Mi 4 are just two of several Xiaomi devices getting Android 6.0 Marshmallow update via MIUI 7 China Stable Build. MIUI 8, which is based on Android 6.0, will also comes in the near future. But hey! “Where’s the Play Store app?” It becomes common question for many MIUI users since Xiaomi has decided not to include Google Play Store due to China government’s policy. Luckily, Google apps are just like many other Android apps which are easily installed subsequently through Android Installer Package (.apk) file.

There have been many Google installer apps, but users can not just download any installer and use it on their phone. Different device with different system needs specific installer package. Here in this page, we share the way how to install Play Store including required Google Service Framework, Account Manager, and Play Service on Mi 3 / Mi 4 running Marshmallow-based MIUI (like MIUI7 China Stable, MIUI7 Global Developer, and MIUI 8).

Step 1 – On your phone, please enable installation from Unknown Sources in the Settings.

Step 2Download and install ES File Explorer app, an alternative File Manager app with ability to unzip .zip file.

Step 3 – Download GApps for MIUI Marshmallow into your phone’s internal storage.

Step 4 – Open up ES File Explorer and go to the location of where you’ve downloaded Gapps .zip file. Extract the file using ES File Explorer (long press the file name to display more options).

You’ll then get 6 different folders named :

  1. Google Account Manager
  2. Google Services Framework
  3. Google Play Service
  4. Google Calendar Sync
  5. Google Contacts Sync
  6. Google Play Store

Step 5 – Please then install each of those apps one by one subsequentially from app no. 1 to no. 6.

Step 6 – Once done, it is better to reboot your phone to make sure all new changes are applied.
