In many cases, an Android phone might be locked due to any unnecessary reasons. Few examples: your kid played around with your phone, your friend did a practical job with your phone, you put your pocket into your phone but you forgot to turn the screen off, or might be you simply forgot about the password. Well, honestly things like that might happen in your life.
Instead of saying, “Uh, God! What did just happen?” you can simply read this two cent trick on how to reset your phone’s security lockscreen no whether it uses password, PIN or even pattern lock. I believe this trick works on all MIUI devices either Redmi variants (Redmi 2, Redmi 3, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note 3, etc.) or Mi variants (Mi 2, Mi 3, Mi4, Mi5, etc.) – as long as your phone is signed in Google or Xiaomi account and is connected to the Internet. So, please do not panic and do stop your crying then read on.
Usually users have been locked out of their phones when they typed wrong password / PIN / Pattern for five times continuously. This is indicated by a message saying “Phone has been locked.” Luckily, there is a Forgot Password option provided.
The Steps To Reset
Step 1 – Tap on the Forgot Password option at the bottom of your phone screen.
Step 2 – Choose either Google or Xiaomi account. It is, however, recommended to choose your Xiaomi / Mi account.
Step 3 – Now enter the valid password for that account and tap on Sign in button.
Step 4 – Voila! You’ll now be able to enter your phone.
Step 5 – Once you have access to your phone, go to Settings and set up new security protection: password, PIN or Pattern lock.
That’s it. It was easy, wasn’t it?
I hope this two cent tip may come in handy for you. Several people asked me the method to reset screenlock pattern whereas they were locked out of it. The point is, users do not need to do hard reset to their phone, for only getting locked out is the case. Hard-resetting Mi device might lead to data loss.
