If flashing Custom pre-rooted ROM or injecting exploit via ADB manually is too difficult for you and if using one-click root app is not satisfying you, then you must try this method to get your Xiaomi Mi 4i phone rooted fully. Just few days ago I’ve informed you guys about this awesome tool called Mi4i Toolkit v4 featuring many capabilities which one of it is to rooting your phone.
I knew that your phone, the Mi 4i is one of best Xiaomi smartphone powering with Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 chipset, Quad-core 1.7 GHz Cortex-A53 & quad-core 1.0 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU and Adreno 405 GPU. But I believe it will be more awesome if you can gait root access on the Android OS running on it so you’ll be able to install any root-only apps which are -trust me- even more cool than ordinary apps.
There are many different methods to root Mi 4i phone but this time I’ll show you how to have it done using a Windows-based tool called Mi4i Toolkit v4. Keep up!
Step 1 – Download Mi 4i Toolkit V4 to your Windows computer (PC / laptop)
Step 2 – Extract the package using your favorite extractor like WinZIP, WinRAR, or 7zip.
Step 3 – Now activate USB Debugging on Mi 4i phone. If you have not done this yet, follow these :
Go to Settings >> About Phone >> Tap on MIUI version several times (about 7 times) >> the a new menu called Developer Options will appear.
Now still in Settings app, go to Developer Options >> and enabled USB Debugging.
Step 4 – Make sure you have Xiaomi ADB Drivers installed on your PC. If you haven’t done this yet, you can install either Mi PC Suite or only its ADB Driver. If one of those two can’t help your PC recognize your phone, then try this Universal Xiaomi ADB Driver.
Step 5 – Next, connect your Mi 4i phone to your computer using its USB cable. You may see a popup saying “Allow USB Debugging?” Then tick on “always allow from this computer” option then simply tap OK.
Step 6 – In your computer, back to the location of where you’ve extracted Mi 4i Toolkit and launch that tool by double-clicking on Start.bat file.
Step 7 – To root your phone, simply choose option number 1 (type 1) then hit Enter on your keyboard.
Step 8 – Simply follow all the process until it’s done. Your phone may restart to complete the root mechanism but after that you’ll have rooted.
Congratulation! You can verify the root access by installing an app called root checker from Play Store.
