How to Root Redmi Note 3 (MTK) Using KingRoot and SuperSU

KingRoot SuperSU Root Redmi Note 3

Did you know that you can make use of KingRoot app to get root access on Redmi Note 3 (MediaTek Helio X10 variant) easily then use SuperSU to make it permanent and powerful? KingRoot app is very popular for its easiness in term of gaining access that works on many types of Android phones. On the other hand, SuperSU is well-known for its powerful exploit in granting root access but it needs tricky steps (e.g: installing custom recovery app) and can not be used out of the box.

In this tutorial, you’ll see all the steps needed to root Redmi Note 3 (MTK) using KingRoot and replace it with SuperSU then. Thanks to rathaROG of MIUI Forum who discovered the method and the script to do the magic steps effortlessly. All credits go to him.

Optional Step – You might also want to remove Purify – the app comes with KingRoot – if you want. But keeping it will give you – or your phone – no harm.

Uninstall Purify

Replace KingRoot with SuperSU

Step 1 – Restart / reboot your phone as normally you do.

Step 2 – Download and extract KingRoot-to-SuperSU script on your computer.

Step 3 – Using its USB cable, connect your RN3MTK device into your computer. Transfer all the files extracted to your phone’s storage and make sure it is placed at /sdcard/ .

Step 4 – Download and install Terminal Emulator app.

Step 5 – Launch Terminal Emulator app up. Execute following command (press Enter after each command to execute it).

su
sh /sdcard/supersu/start.sh

Start Script Terminal Emulator

Step 6 – At certain point the script will ask you for a confirmation. Just hit Enter again to start.

Start Install SuperSU Redmi Note 3

Step 7 – SuperSU will then appear and will ask you for confirmations. Just follow through all the process as following. However, if SuperSU takes too long then you can simply minimize it and install SuperSU manually by using APK in SuperSU folder.

SuperSU Processing

Step 8 – After you’ve completed the SuperSU tasks (updating SU binaries and so on), just back to the Terminal app and you will see a message like below.

Updating SU Binaries Done

Step 9 – Final step, simply reboot your phone normally to make sure all changes can be loaded onto phone’s system.

If I only want to install Xposed Framework, Can i just root my RN3 by KingRoot only ? Why I have to replace kingroot with SuperSU ? That looks complicated for me.

and if I don’t have sd card where should I push SuperSu files to

Amazing. finally, after all the misinformation i found on MIUI forums a normal relatively easy way of rooting. THANK YOU!
    2 important tips:
    1. the first try failed and i had to press “retry” in order for the root to succeed.
    2. After each restart (2 of them) i had to open the app again.

Not working. King root itself is showing no strategy available. I’ve tried many times it always shows the same thing.
