Did you know that you can make use of KingRoot app to get root access on Redmi Note 3 (MediaTek Helio X10 variant) easily then use SuperSU to make it permanent and powerful? KingRoot app is very popular for its easiness in term of gaining access that works on many types of Android phones. On the other hand, SuperSU is well-known for its powerful exploit in granting root access but it needs tricky steps (e.g: installing custom recovery app) and can not be used out of the box.
In this tutorial, you’ll see all the steps needed to root Redmi Note 3 (MTK) using KingRoot and replace it with SuperSU then. Thanks to rathaROG of MIUI Forum who discovered the method and the script to do the magic steps effortlessly. All credits go to him.

Requirements
- Redmi Note 3 MediaTek variant (RN3MTK) – with Locked or Unlocked bootloader;
- Any version of MIUI 7 running on it (tested and it works on v7.2.3.0);
- A computer (laptop / PC);
- Stable internet connection;
- Download KingRoot app into your phone;
- Download KingRoot-to-SuperSU script into your computer.
Using KingRoot
Step 1 – Enable installation from unknown sources on your device. Simply go to to Settings > Security > Device Administration > then enable Unknown Sources.
Step 2 – Download KingRoot app (.apk) into your phone then install it.
Step 3 – Once installed, launch KingRoot app up and enable / allow all permissions.

Step 4 – Scroll down its first page until you see an offer to install Purify. Tap on the Try it button.

Step 5 – KingRoot will then verify your phone. It won’t take long.

Step 6 – Once the app has been successful verifying your phone, you’ll see either Start Root or Try To Root button. Just tap on it.

Step 7 – Just sit tight and wait for the app to do its job. Once done, you’ll see something like this one :

Step 8 – Download and install Root Checker app at Play Store to verify that your phone has truly gotten root access.

Optional Step – You might also want to remove Purify – the app comes with KingRoot – if you want. But keeping it will give you – or your phone – no harm.

Replace KingRoot with SuperSU
Step 1 – Restart / reboot your phone as normally you do.
Step 2 – Download and extract KingRoot-to-SuperSU script on your computer.
Step 3 – Using its USB cable, connect your RN3MTK device into your computer. Transfer all the files extracted to your phone’s storage and make sure it is placed at /sdcard/ .
Step 4 – Download and install Terminal Emulator app.
Step 5 – Launch Terminal Emulator app up. Execute following command (press Enter after each command to execute it).
su
sh /sdcard/supersu/start.sh

Step 6 – At certain point the script will ask you for a confirmation. Just hit Enter again to start.

Step 7 – SuperSU will then appear and will ask you for confirmations. Just follow through all the process as following. However, if SuperSU takes too long then you can simply minimize it and install SuperSU manually by using APK in SuperSU folder.

Step 8 – After you’ve completed the SuperSU tasks (updating SU binaries and so on), just back to the Terminal app and you will see a message like below.

Step 9 – Final step, simply reboot your phone normally to make sure all changes can be loaded onto phone’s system.
