Xiaomi has released its first Smartphone to have a fingerprint scanner. This makes your Smartphone more secure and it is really an amazing feature to have. The fingerprint scanner on the Redmi Note 3 is not just for unlocking the phone, it has many other functions. The sensors for scanning your fingerprint are located right under the camera on the back of the phone. Below are some of the tasks that the fingerprint scanner can be used for.
The Many Uses of the Redmi Note 3 Fingerprint Sensor
This Smartphone can store up to 5 different “fingerprint” profiles. You can use these profiles to take selfies, view hidden folders, log into your apps and to lock apps, just to name a few. Being able to set up you phone with a fingerprint for access to apps and unlocking features makes this Smartphone very secure. So even if your phone if unlocked you can have files or certain apps that will need a fingerprint to open. You can keep files with passwords hidden and open them with your fingerprint only. That means that no one will have access to that information but you.
Not only can you use your fingerprint, you can use other body parts as well, such as your lip. A man named Hugo Barra used his lips to unlock his Smartphone at the launch event for the Redmi Note 3 in India. This shows the diversity of options you have for your fingerprint profiles. And with 5 different profiles to use, you can get as creative as you want in setting them up.
If you have recently purchased a Redmi Note 3 and you need to know how to set up your fingerprint scanner, look no further. Below are easy step by step instructions for you to set your fingerprint profiles up in no time.
Setting up your Fingerprint Scanner on Xiaomi Redmi Note 3
The very first thing you will have to do is open up the settings menu and go to the option Lock Screen and Password and click on it.
Next you will click on the Password and Fingerprint option.
At this point your phone will be prompt you to set up your backup password. This is a mandatory step and cannot be skipped. This ensures that if you have a problem with your sensor or have an injury the keeps you from being able to use the fingerprint scanner that you can still access your information. If you don’t thing you will remember the password, make sure to write it down and keep it in a safe place just in case you ever need it.
After you set up a backup password, it will prompt you to place and lift your finger (or other body part) on the sensor at least 10 times. This allows the sensor to get a full print and makes it easier to use the print in the future. *before starting the scanning process, make sure that your finger or body part is completely dry. Moisture makes it harder to get a clear print and will make the process take longer.
If you want to make more profiles, you can follow these steps and make multiple fingerprint profiles for your Redmi Note 3 Smartphone. Or if you want another person to be able to access your phone, you can make a fingerprint profile for them as well. There are a lot of possibilities with the new Redmi Note 3 fingerprint scanner. Not only is it added security but it can also be a lot of fun.
