Recently, there has been news of a new smartphone being released in India by Xiaomi – although the details aren’t all available yet. But there is a theory about which model it will be.
New Smartphone Launch
The Managing Director of Xiaomi India, Manu Kumar Jain, has been teasing the launch of an upcoming smartphone in India. He has said that this is the first Xiaomi smartphone with dual rear cameras to be released in India. Jain hasn’t explained much about the device model or details – past dual cameras – but it is suspected that it will be the Xiaomi Mi 5X model.
We can only assume their consumer group in India is growing, as the Mi Max 2 was launched only a month ago and another phone is already being promoted. It demonstrates that there is an increasing focus and expansion from this company into the Indian market.
Statement from Jain
The Xiaomi India managing director tweeted out Monday a tease of an upcoming release. He said, “Can’t wait for you guys to check out Xiaomi’s first dual-camera phone in India! Coming next month! Can you guess which one?”.
This gave a big hint about what phone it would be because Xiaomi has launched 3 smartphones in China with dual cameras. Xiaomi Mi 5X is the most likely due to how long ago the Redmi Pro and Mi 6 were released.
Mi 5X Price
The Mi 5X was only recently launched in China. It runs on MIUI 9 that’s based on Android Nougat. It costs RMB 1,499, about Rs. 15,000, and is available in black, gold and pink. Currently, people are expected that Xiaomi India will offer the smartphone at the same price.
In-depth Details and Information
It has a 5.5-inch screen that has a full HD LTPS display. It’s powered by a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 625 SoC. While you can expand the built-in memory with a microSD card, it comes with 64GB memory and 4GB of RAM.
The cameras have 12-megapixel lenses with a wide-angle and a telephoto lens. The front camera has a 5-megapixel camera along with real-time beautification.
For this model, the connectivity option are 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, and GPS/ A-GPS. It also has a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB Type-C port for the charger. The 3,080mAh battery support holds enough charge to be used throughout the entire day.
While this is the most likely candidate to be released, it is hard to say whether this model will for sure be launched. Unless the managing director Manu Kumar Jain releases more information, we might not know exactly until it has been launched. But there is still a new model for us all to look forward to!
