The New Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 Price Features with Facial Recognition

Chinese giant Xiaomi is here with a new upgrade to the Mi Mix smartphone released in November 2016. During an event in China, Xiaomi announced the Mi Mix 2.

They also announced the Mi Note 3 and Mi Notebook Pro during the event. The Mi Note 3 is an upgrade to the Mi Note 2 released last year. The Mi Note 2 houses a dual-camera closely akin to this year’s flagship: The Xiaomi Mi 6.

The Mi Mix 2 displays with no size bezels. First impressions were the facial recognition feature — as well as the curved ceramic build, and aluminum alloy frame.

In addition, the Mi Mix 2 has a bottom bezel smaller than that of the Mi Mix. Apart from the standard edition which has 6GB RAM, it also has a special edition that have 128GB internal storage and 8GB RAM.

The Mi Mix 2 is great for photo and video lovers. The front camera allows you to record videos in 1080p with its 5-megapixels. There is also a brilliant facial recognition feature.

The rear camera has 12-megapixels and the Sony IMX386 sensor. It also packs f/2.0 aperture, 1.25um sized pixels, and 4-axis OIS — as well as 4K video recording. The LED flash used has dual-tone.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 has 6GB of RAM (and 8GB in the special edition). At 2.45GHz, the Snapdragon 835 chipset — which is the latest from Qualcomm — makes the Mi Mix 2 powerful.

It packs features like a DCI-P3 color gamut and 403ppi density all displayed on a 5.99-inch FHD 18:9 screen with 1080 x 2160 pixels. Compared to the Mi Mix’s 6.4-inch display, Mi Mix 2 is 11.9% smaller.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 runs on Nougat (Android 7.1) and utilizes the latest MIUI 9. The dual-SIM supports Nano-SIM with Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (with 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands) and 4G LTE. Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 Prices

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 standard edition is only available in the color black. The body is a four-sided ceramic material curved with a frame of aluminum alloy. The 6GB RAM / 64GB storage variety is priced at ¥ 3299 (Rs. 32,350 or US$ 506) — while the 6GB RAM / 128GB storage variety is priced at ¥ 3599 (Rs. 35,280 or US$ 552). The 6GB / 256GB storage variety is priced at ¥ 3999 (Rs. 39,210 or US$ 613).

The special edition of Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is a little pricey. It comes with 128GB storage and 8GB RAM and priced at ¥ 4699 (Rs. 46,060 or US$ 721). It can be bought in colors white and black.

On September 15, the sale of the standard edition (and all varieties) have started after registrations since September 11. While the special edition’s sales will start in November. Details about global release were not disclosed, the sales are open in China exclusively.
