Xiaomi Mi 4s – Specifications
When it comes to smartphone, a lot changes in a year. But in the case of Xiaomi Mi 4s, the new camera Mi 4s is more of a gradual evolution than a major revolution. 13MP primary camera with 4K UHD video recording and 8MP front facing camera. While the Mi 4s had a number of extras and new features, the Mi 4s offers a sleeker design, a few tweaks and patches, and–most importantly–a very affordable price point.
Key Features and Specs – at a glance
The Mi4s is equipped with an improved metal and double sided glasses. Under the hood, the phone is powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 MSM8992 chipset utilizing Hexa-core, ARM Cortex-A57 and ARM Cortex-A53, 64-bit processor, Adreno 418 Graphic Processing Unit (GPU), up to 64GB storage model, and the fast 3072MB (3GB) RAM. With those killer specs, the Mi 4S is absolutely a dope.
Planted also in the phone a 3260 mAh battery supplying power necessary for the system to work properly. The Mi 4s also features 4G LTE-A Cat 9 (450/50 Mbit/s), VoLTE, GPS with A-GPS and Glonass, Bluetooth 4.1, reversible USB Type-C, Wifi, fingerprint sensor, 13MP rear camera, infrared remote sensor, dual SIM cards slot, and running latest Android with MIUI 7 on top of its 5.0 inches display with 69.87 % screen-to-body ratio. Furthermore and the best part is its extremely high pixel density screen. It has over 430ppi (441 ppi) screen density. Xiaomi has also included a 5MP front-facing camera to take selfie with it.
The phone has dimensions of 5.48 x 2.79 x 0.31 inches (139.26 x 70.76 x 7.8 mm) and has weight of only 4.69 oz (133 g). Moreever, the Mi4S is available in 4 color variants: Black, Purple, White, and Gold.
More than skin deep
The new model’s case closely resembles that of the high-end Xiaomi Mi 4s dial and all. Not only is this look easier on the eyes than the original Xiaomi design, but it also means that the cradles and other accessories will work with all the models in Adreno 330 GPU line. But in place of the Xiaomi Mi 4s more colorful surface, here you’ll find Gorilla Glass. This is one of several cost-cutting choices that Xiaomi made to deliver the Mi 4s at a list price of just $260. Overall, the design is attractive, but it’s not as sleek as those of the the Lenovo or the others.
If you like the price and don’t mind the design case, the Xiaomi Mi 4s has the guts to go toe-to-toe with more expensive smartphones. Like the $150 Mi 3s, this Xiaomi runs MIUI 7.1 on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, Adreno 418 GPU, 3GB RAM and 16GB internal memory to store all your data and phone information and third-party applications. This model’s 16GB of internal memory gives it a longer lifespan, too, since you’ll be able to upgrade the OS later on.
16 GB internal memory
And should you need more than 10GB to store all your applications, the Xiaomi Mi 4s has a Memory slot. But Xiaomi doesn’t include a memory card in the box, so you’ll have to buy your own. The lack of a dust cover for the empty Memory card concerns us; pocket lint and other junk could easily lodge in there. For the moment at least, memory cards are only for storage (MP3 players in its Springboard expansion slot.)
Other minor concerns include what you get–and what you don’t–straight out of the box. In order to keep costs low, Xiaomi opted not to bundle a Memory Card. This makes economic sense, but the utter lack of a dust cover for the expansion slot can only mean trouble until you buy at least an 2GB cards. And the IPS HD capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution and 441 ppi pixel density cover for the Xiaomi Mi 4s may give you that cool, so it’ll just flop around a good deal of the time. Meanwhile, the fact that the Xiaomi Mi 4s comes with a charger and cable. The downside, however, is that you can’t simultaneously plug in the sync cable and the 3260 mAH lithium-polymer battery.
People using Xiaomi Mi 4s systems will want to use the Snapdragon because it sync with their desktops. Xiaomi Mi 4s users who have their hearts set on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, though, can buy third-party software too.
Comparing the Xiaomi Mi 4s to Xiaomi Mi 4, you will see a greatly evolved smartphone. But when you stack it up against the internal memory and the camera, finding a true winner becomes a tougher decision. Though i like the Xiaomi Mi 4s sleeker design, easy-to-read display and budget-friendly price make this smartphone a solid pick.
